They're Too Young!

With the Video Game Industry becoming over-saturated with more violent and aggressive games, parents don't want their little boy/girl to be exposed to such violence so soon. Well, not to worry parents because there are plenty of games out there that can keep your child entertained until they are old enough to ask for a 'big kid's game.'

What System is Better?

So the first step is deeming which system to get if they don't have one yet. The Nintendo Wii is the best because Microsoft and Sony audience is usually aimed at teenagers and adult. Nintendo's audience has always been toddlers to children. That's why their games are usually cheaper than Xbox and Playstation games, besides some other factors such as visual quality, and complexities instilled in the games.

The Wii is also good choice for children between the ages 6-13 as well because of it gets them to be active. With technology becoming a major factor, or should I say distractor, it's hard to get children back outside to play sports or just play. "It's too hot, I think I'll just play my game." "I'm not going out there. I'm already on level 20!" Just some excuses that they make up so they stay glued to the television. Also, with obesity becoming an ongoing issue in the United States, Wii came up with a solution. Their unique motion sensor technology made them the first console to use motion. Such games like Wii Sports and Wii Resort has a variety of games that children can play and even adults so a family can have family night and the parents can show their child or children a pointer or two in bowling, basketball, tennis, baseball, golf, boxing, etc.

The Wii Sounds Promising, What About Games?

Since Nintendo is the home to Mario, and Pokemon and since these two titles are widely known to children and adults, they're perfect! It's perfect for children because all kids love Pikachu, and Pokemon. Mario is a good choice because parents know that Mario isn't violent and gory like the Dead Space series or Gears of War. It's a game they are familiar with and will want to play with their children as well. Pokemon Battle Revolution, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Strikers (soccer), Super Mario Football, Mario Party 8, and Mario Kart are some of the most popular games for the Wii. Especially Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Nintendo also has a popular hero who goes by the name of Sonic. He now seems to finally found out that he has competition with Mario and they both go at it in some games. Mario and Sonic at the Olympics and Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics are some of the games they go head-to-head in along with the rest of the Mario and Sonic crew.

New stars have been added to the mix of the 'Children's Genre.' Madagascar has blown up to be very attractive to children and the lovable Panda that does Kung Fu has also made a name for himself.

Okay, I Love the Wii, but my Children Already Have a Xbox!

If you've already invested in a different console other than the Wii, not to worry. There are games for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 that can keep your child away from the violent games for a while. With the new releases of the motion technology out for the other consoles, they have expanded the Children's Genre. The Kinect for the Xbox 360 has games to keep your child active. Micheal Jackson's The Experience, Dance Central, keep your children dancing and having fun for hours! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows has a few challenges that can be done on the Kinect and instead of pressing buttons to do a spell, you are the spellcaster and with a flick of a wrist you'll blasting your foes away. Madagascar Kartz, and Crash Team Racing are for the Xbox with mild cartoon violence so it will be funny violence. These games are also for the Playstation 3.

No worries parents, there is still hope out there for your children. You can still keep them active with the motion technology with the Wii, Kinect and Playstation Move. Keeping them away from the intense violence is important because exposure to that at an early age can have negative effects and in order ensure that your children be raised properly without negative influences inferring a different path, it all starts with one their favorite hobbies. Control their games and you control their outcome.
